Sabre Systems, Inc. has extensive experience in performing demographic and statistical analyses as well as developing demographic estimates and projections modeling. These analyses and models relate to a number of different areas within the statistical and demographic disciplines. They include immigration from abroad by country of origin, age and fertility estimates and projections, and the evaluation of survey and census results including recommendations for question redesign and editing procedures. The terms “demographic analysis” and “statistical analysis,” as used in these studies, are intertwined and can be used almost synonymously in most cases. For clarity sake, we have dichotomized these studies into two categories as follows:
If the study is solely the analysis of existing data to make observations about a population subgroup, we have termed this work as demographic analysis.
Under statistical analysis, we include examination of census and survey results with an eye toward improving questionnaire design and wording. It also includes the more mathematical and statistical modeling associated with estimates and projections work.
Also included in Sabre’s data analysis and evaluation studies is the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to determine the accuracy and validity of the results of Census 2000, and geographic and cartographic techniques to display the data in an understandable format.
Sabre's main client for demographic and statistical analysis work has been the U.S. Census Bureau. Sabre has on its staff many of the world’s finest and most renowned demographers, economists, and sociologists. These experts, because of their standing in the various research and academic communities, lend considerable, independent weight to the findings used by our clients for many different purposes. Sabre is also getting involved in “pure” research and development activities associated with these types of analyses. Such analyses will further the accuracy and completeness of future censuses and surveys conducted by our clients and will make the results available to the American public in a more timely and accurate manner.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recently contracted with Sabre Systems, Inc. to develop a set of estimates of unauthorized aliens by country of origin and state of probable residence in the United States. These estimates use mathematical formulas and visa data supplied by DHS.
Sabre Systems, Inc. is extremely proud to have recently been given two awards in September 2002 under the Census Bureau’s umbrella solicitation, Census Bureau Research and Development 2007. One award is in the area of sub-population research which covers activities to improve coverage of race and ethnicity in censuses and surveys. The other area covers data analysis and dissemination research and development which is intended to improve the quality of the data as well the media for the distribution of the data in an efficient and timely manner.
