Eligibility begins on the first of the month following three (3) months after your first day of employment. Sick leave can be taken at any time during the year, but is earned for Full-time Regular employees (after the initial waiting period) for paid hours at the rate of four (4) hours per month up to five (5) days per calendar year. Part-time Regular employees working thirty (30) to less than forty (<40) hours per week earn sick leave at a rate of 3.2 hours per month up to four (4) days per calendar year. Employees are permitted to maintain a sick time balance up to twice the earned rate (e.g., employees will be able to carry an unused balance of up to two weeks at any given time). Sick time cannot be cashed in, and unused sick time is not reimbursed upon termination. Overruns for sick leave will be deducted from an employee's annual leave the following year.

If the employee terminates employment with ABC Corporation the hours overrun would be owed back to ABC Corporation plus any other hours not earned. Any absence for three (3) or more days may require a doctor's certificate. ABC Corporation may, in its sole and absolute discretion, require a doctor's certificate verifying the necessity for absence(s) and the specific illness, injury, or other disability to which the absence is attributed. Any sick leave taken on days before or after annual leave or holiday leave may require a doctor's certificate.
