Warrington Employees Give Selflessly this Season

Sabre Warrington employees shared their holiday spirit this past month, when they participated in the “Be an Angel” and “Food Cupboard Collection” holiday donation programs.

Through the “Be an Angel Program,” employees “adopted” an underprivileged child and provided gifts off of his or her wish list. This toy drive for children in need was held in conjunction with the Salvation Army’s Angel Program.

Through the Food Cupboard Collection, Sabre collected canned goods and personal care products for those in need. The Food Cupboard is organized by the Coordinating Council of Health and Welfare, which is one of several agencies that comprise the Hunger Nutrition Coalition of Bucks County.   (01/2012)

Employees Make Soldiers’ Angels Drive a Success

Sabre employees demonstrated their generosity over the month of November, when they participated in the Soldiers’ Angels fall drive.

Employees from across the company donated countless items, including granola bars, magazines, toothbrushes, gum, razors, puzzle books and more, which were sent to deployed service men and women to help provide aid and comfort. The company also donated hand sanitizers to be included in the care packages.

In addition, employees penned personal letters thanking the soldiers for their service. The company also received heartfelt letters from students at Stella Maris Academy in La Jolla, Calif., and Holy Redeemer School in Philadelphia, Pa., thanking the heroes for their valiant efforts.   (01/2012)

Sabre Holds 2011 Soldiers’ Angels Fall Drive

During the month of November, Sabre will be coordinating its 2011 Soldiers’ Angels Spring Drive in which employees, family members and friends can donate care package items and letters for deployed service men and women.

Donations will be sent to Soldiers' Angels, a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, veterans and their families.

    About the organization
Founded by Patti Patton-Bader, the mother of two American soldiers, Soldiers’ Angels was established out of concern for deployed soldiers who did not receive mail or support from home. "May No Soldier Go Unloved," encapsulates the motivation behind Soldiers' Angels. By working together with a common vision of service, the volunteers of Soldiers' Angels continue to make a visible difference in the lives of veterans, the wounded, deployed service members, and their families.

    What you can do
Soldiers’ Angels organizes a multitude of projects and volunteers to send care packages and letters to deployed service members. To support their effort, Sabre has coordinated a spring and fall donation and letter-writing drive.

A box will be place in the lobby area of each Sabre office where items may be placed. Items will be accepted through November 30, 2011. In addition to the items donated by employees and friends, Sabre will donate a large quantity of lip balm.

    Letter Writing
Sabre will collect letters from our employees, family and friends addressed to our service men and women thanking them for their service to our country. Letter writers are encouraged to let the recipient know a little about themselves, their family, and anything else they would like to share. The troops love to hear from all of us, and mail brightens their days!

    Care Packages

Soldiers’ Angels has many programs it coordinates including one in which participants can adopt a deployed hero. For more information, please visit http://soldiersangels.org/join-or-adopt.html

Sabre Holds Collection for Victims of Hurricane Irene

In response to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Irene in late August, Sabre established a month-long monetary collection to help those left reeling after the tremendous devastation caused by the powerful storm.

Through employee contributions and the company’s dollar-for-dollar match, Sabre was able to donate more than $600 to the American Red Cross’ Disaster Relief Fund to help aid in the recovery. As a result of Irene making landfall close to Sabre office locations, the donations were divided and sent to chapters local to impacted Sabre employees and offices.   (10/2011)

Sabre recently provided a donation to A Message of Hope Cancer Fund, Inc., an all-volunteer organization that “provides direct financial assistance to families who face the monetary burdens associated with cancer.”

In a letter sent on behalf of the organization, volunteer Linda Williams stated, “Just wanted to send a quick note to thank everyone.... In our books, every dollar counts to help pay the electric bill, gas, food, rent and so on for a family going through cancer in our own community. So I can't thank you enough and hope I can count you in next year. We really do make a difference and as the funds come in, they go right back out to those in need. It could be your neighbor, your friend or your coworker or even your family one day so thank you for giving back.”

Sabre Employee Golfs for A Good Cause

On May 20, 2011, a Sabre employee was invited by the president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of Women in Defense (WID) to play in Violet (Vi) Ripken’s “Diamonds in the Rough Benefit Golf Tournament” at the Aberdeen Proving Ground’s (APG’s) Ruggles Golf Course.

Vi, who is the mother of baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr., helped establish a Boys & Girls Club of America presence in Harford County that became a model for clubs around the state, in an effort to provide hope and opportunities for youth, specifically children from disadvantaged circumstances. The first Vi Ripken Diamonds in the Rough golf tournament was held in 1998, and benefitted the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County, serving Aberdeen, Edgewood, Bel Air and Havre de Grace.

This women-only tournament is now in its thirteenth year and has collectively raised more than $385,000. The money raised through this tournament has allowed thousands of children and teens to benefit from Boys & Girls Clubs programming.   (07/2011)

The Charlotte Hall Veterans Home is the only Veterans Assisted Living Center in the state of Maryland. As with any Veteran’s program, there is always a deficit of funding available to provide appropriate care for our country’s Vets, many of whom have no one to help them during their elder years.
