Company History

Although Sabre Systems, Inc. is a large organization with an expansive resume whose market reach extends across the nation, this was not always the case. Founded in 1989 by Philip Jaurigue, who has served as President since its inception, Sabre was once just a small, one contract, two-man office.

Under Sabre’s first contract, the company provided support to the United States Navy’s Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) and the Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) program offices at the Naval Air Development Center, which was later named the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), in Warminster, Pa. When the 1991 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) announced that Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Warminster would be realigning to NAWCAD Patuxent River in Maryland, Sabre responded with aggressive expansion and opened its first satellite office in Lexington Park, Md. This has since become Sabre's largest office supporting the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR); NAWCAD Patuxent River; the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren; and NSWC Carderock.

Over the course of the next several years, Sabre continued to cultivate its competencies, strategically establish a presence in support of new clients, and to expand its focus beyond the defense to include civilian government agencies and commercial clients. To date, the company has several offices in a wide variety of locations, including in Belcamp and Lexington Park, Md.; Manasquan, N.J.; Alexandria, Va.; and Augusta, Ga.

Sabre’s growth over the years was so extensive that from 1993 to 1999, and again in 2002, the Wharton School of Business named the company to the Philly 100®, which recognizes the 100 fastest growing, privately held companies in the Philadelphia region. Sabre’s receipt of the award for seven consecutive years – more than any other business, resulted in the company’s induction into the Philly 100® Hall of Fame in 2004. Sabre’s excellence and growth also earned the company the Greater Philadelphia 2002 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® Award for IT Solutions, as well as a nomination to the Deloitte & Touche Fast 500, a list of the fastest growing technology firms in the United States. In 2008, Sabre was presented with The Defense Security Service's James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award. This award, which recognizes security excellence, is a testament to Sabre's diligence in protecting classified information.

In 2010, Sabre's continued emphasis on quality performance and process improvement resulted in the company’s appraisal at Maturity Level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI® v1.3) for both services and development by ChangeBridge Consulting, Inc., an SEI-authorized Lead Appraiser. Sabre’s adoption of CMMI demonstrates the company’s commitment to quality and the delivery of measureable business benefits for our clients. The company’s implementation of a Voice of the Customer program, which assists with identifying and measuring customer requirements and satisfaction, and its ISO 9001:2008 registration which is further evidence of Sabre’s commitment to exceptional customer support.

Sabre was honored in 2012 as The Patuxent Partnership (TPP) Member Firm of the Year based upon the company’s support of the TPP mission; internal and employee culture; and involvement in community affairs and volunteer activities. Sabre was recognized at the annual Leading Edge Awards, which showcased individuals and companies that spur economic growth within Southern Maryland. The company was also recognized in 2012 by The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and awarded the Seven Seals Award for outstanding support to the National Guard and Reserve.

Sabre continues to enjoy controlled and steady growth. Owner Philip Jaurigue attributes much of Sabre's success to the hard working and dedicated staff who are committed to excellence and espouse a "customer first" philosophy.
